// UNDER THE SURFACE // ISTVÁN HÁASZ //
Sept 22, 2023 – Dez 02, 2023

ISTVÁN HÁASZ enchants with a visual language, which is able to open up countless perspectives through a subtle and poetic play of light and shadow in the visual axes and geometric angles and paths of his three-dimensional wall objects. Despite this changing impressions, his art radiates a great calm. Yet beneath the surface of many of his works lies the chatter of the world: numerous layers of monochromatic (preferably yellow) hues cover collages made of snippets from daily newspapers.

István Háasz, born in Gönc, Hungary, lives and works in Budapest. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest and was a lecturer at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. Since the 1970s, his work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally. He was awarded a DAAD scholarship in Worpswede, received a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation New York, he got the Munkácsy Prize and the Hungarian Republic’s Notable Artist Award – to name just a few.

// LYRICAL MINIMAL ART // REINHARD ROY //
Sep 23, 2023 – Dez 02, 2023

REINHARD ROY is associated with the Konkrete Kunst movement. His work is characterized by an emphasis on geometric forms and a meticulous attention to detail. Roy’s art often features precise lines, shapes, and patterns, arranged in a way that creates an optical illusion or a sense of movement. He prefers bright, contrasting colors that add depth and vibrancy to his compositions. Roy’s style can be seen as a continuation of the principles of Konkrete Kunst, which prioritize the visual qualities of art over any representational or symbolic content.

Within a formal rigor, he succeeds in lyrical surprises: thus, a raster image that at first appears prosaically can represent an atmospheric landscape when viewed for a longer time, or an object in the form of a ellipse transforms into something mysterious.

Reinhard Roy was born in 1948 in Klitten, Germany. From 1969-1974 he continued his studies at the University of Art and Design Halle – Burg Giebichenstein. From 1984 to 2010 he worked with architects in the fields of art, design and architecture in Frankfurt am Main, Berlin, Bonn and Brussels. In addition to international exhibitions, his work has been regularly featured in OSAS group international exhibitions at the Vasarely Museum, and in 2014 he had a solo exhibition in Veszprém in the Vass Collection of the Modern Gallery.

// SOMEWHERE ON EARTH II // ANDREA ROCCA //
Sep 24, 2023 – Dez 02, 2023

ANDREA ROCCA gives his photography the overarching title “Somewhere on Earth”. Whether his photos have been taken in London, Rome, Paris, South Korea or wherever it’s hard to tell. He captures souls, lights, laughter and abysses with his camera, making tangible big cities’ rhythms, tempos, beats and blues.

There are aspects of eroticism, confusion, suspense, trance states, childhood feelings, implied longings, and the inherent humour of horror films and horror stories that overlay the intrinsic presence of people’s lives in abandoned places and among discarded objects.

“Somewhere on Earth” is also the overarching title of his electronic and instrumental compositions. He creates sound collages from all that gets him: melodies, linguistic mosaics, whispers, fragments of animate and inanimate tones.

Born in Rome, Italy, he lives and works in London, United Kingdom. As a composer, Andrea Rocca writes music for feature length films, contemporary dance companies, theatres, documentaries and television programs. Combined with fragments of his soundtracks, his photography was shown in solo exhibitions.
